The Match We Never Expected
It all started on December 2, 2025, when Josh was looking for a girlfriend and Kaitlin was… well, playing Smash or Pass on Tinder. Somehow, in the middle of all that, the two of us matched.
Josh was the one who sent the first text, and he quickly asked if they could FaceTime. After some convincing—and a very grumpy “I just want to get this over with”—we finally called on December 12.
What was supposed to be a quick conversation turned into 11 hours of talking.
The next night, we talked for another 7 hours. The night after that, 9 more. Somewhere between the endless conversations, laughing until we were tired, and realizing how effortlessly we clicked, something started to feel different.
On that very first FaceTime call, Josh told Kaitlin he was going to marry her. They even named their future children that night. Meanwhile, Kaitlin was happily telling everyone that she wasn't ready to settle down anytime soon.
Josh was determined to change her mind.
And, well… he did.
Our first date was December 15. We spent nearly the entire day together, from 3 p.m. until midnight—starting with the Festival of Lights in Airdrie, followed by ice skating, dinner at Boston Pizza, and a movie (Zootopia 2). And because apparently we still hadn't talked enough, we spent hours chatting in the car afterward.
Three days later, on December 18, Josh asked Kaitlin to be his girlfriend.
Everything moved quickly, but somehow, none of it ever felt rushed. It felt natural. Easy. Like we had known each other much longer than we actually had. From the very beginning, there was a sense that something was missing before we found each other—and suddenly, it wasn't missing anymore.
What started with a Tinder match, a reluctant text, and one very long FaceTime call became a love neither of us saw coming.
And now, the boy who promised he would change her mind is the man she gets to marry.
Sometimes the best stories begin with a plan.
Ours began with a match.
